Welcome!

I’m glad you’re here.

Whether you're facing a long-term challenge, have experienced a recent crisis, or are feeling stuck in life and seeking direction, I offer holistic, faith-based therapy that can help you find healing, experience growth, and move into flourishing.

Healing Is Possible…

and doesn’t need to take years.

We are wired for healing. In the right environment and with the right tools and guidance, we will naturally move toward health and wholeness.

We just need to commit to the journey.

About Mary

I approach therapy holistically, engaging the mind, body, and spirit with my clients. Healing and transformation result when we address the whole person, and I integrate cognitive, emotional, somatic (body-based), and faith-centered techniques into my work based on each client's unique needs. My goal is to help you uncover the root causes of your struggles so healing can occur at a core level—leading to results that feel natural and are permanent. As we move through the healing process, I also work with my clients to find purpose, meaning, and joy.

My style is authentic and real, and I bring my full self into the counseling space. I have found safety and relational connection are keys to creating an environment where healing can happen. I work from an experiential and attachment-based lens and believe deeply that genuine connection accelerates growth. I am pretty fun, and very intentional and passionate about helping my clients find true healing that lasts!

My practice is in Blaine, MN, where I have been practicing Christian therapy since 2021. I am a Master’s level Certified Splankna Practitioner and an Immanuel Approach Facilitator, and recently earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bethel University. My therapeutic work is informed by a Gospel-centered worldview, current mental health and trauma research, and over a decade of personal and professional exploration of therapeutic approaches and healing modalities. In my practice, I integrate the techniques that I have found to be the most effective for both myself and my clients.

With over 40 years of Bible and theological study, I continue to integrate faith into my life and work. I have lived experience with many Christian denominations and their beliefs, and work with clients from a wide variety of spiritual backgrounds. In my own spiritual walk, I have experienced the dark seasons where God has felt absent, even while I was diligently seeking Him, and I know how it feels to cognitively know the truth of who God is, but not have it feel true in heart and soul. I walk alongside clients to help them connect (or reconnect) with Jesus. He is truly Love, and invested in our healing and the tangible experience of his presence.

Healing doesn't have to take decades - or even years! With commitment and partnership, meaningful transformation can begin early in our work together—and lead to lasting change.

Please be advised that I offer my services as an unlicensed psychotherapist, not a licensed mental health professional. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have received training in all of the therapeutic approaches I use. The approaches I offer are not intended to be a substitute for medical diagnoses or services, and they do not replace the services of a licensed physician or licensed psychotherapist should they be needed. It is your responsibility to consult with your physician and/or psychiatrist for any specific medical problems or medication needs.

Holistic & Faith-Based Therapy

The issues we are dealing with always have a root cause. Current negative emotional reactions and patterns are often the result of our responses to negative experiences and trauma we’ve encountered in the past. When we experience suffering without the emotional resources to manage it on our own, our creative minds work to solve the problem. These “solutions” (like anxiety, addictions, or shutting off emotions) then become negative patterns in our lives that stay when we no longer need them. Many of our problems also have a spiritual component, and this needs to be addressed for full healing. Jesus came to set us free in spirit, soul, and body, and I partner with Him in my work with clients.

My job as your therapist is to work with you to find the root of your current concern, then help you to rewire your body, soul, and spirit to align with the truth - to bring peace and resolution to your past, and joy and wellbeing to your present.

I use the following therapies in my practice:

Splankna Therapy

Splankna Therapy is a mind-body therapy protocol for inner healing. It addresses spirit, soul, and body when dealing with each issue. When negative experiences happen in our lives, we hold them in our physical body as well as our thoughts and memories. The negative emotions we experience and their results - a lie, a vow, or a lens through which we now see the world – get stored in our subconscious.

The Splankna protocol is an effective way to access these stored memories and partner with God to heal us emotionally and spiritually from destructive patterns and negative emotional reactions that have come from these experiences and the trauma we’ve encountered over the course of our lives.

In Splankna Therapy, we use muscle response testing to access what emotions got stuck at the time of the trauma and where the body is holding these stored emotions. We then use this information to release negative emotions from our past. Through prayer we also release the negative beliefs we took on as a result of trauma. As we access and heal the root cause of our symptoms, what follows is healing in the present – emotional, spiritual, and even physical healing for issues that have an emotional source.

Somatic & Emotion-Focused Parts Work

In our work together, each time you come to therapy, something is ready to be healed! Our present, in-the-moment experience holds clues to healing.

Using somatic (body-focused) techniques, parts work (in the style of Internal Family Systems/IFS) and connection to Jesus (Immanuel Approach), I guide clients in finding the roots of current negative patterns. We use your present emotions (e.g. anxiety, sadness, overwhelm) and your body cues (like tension, pain, tightness) to discover what is ready to be healed in your session. In this integrated process, we honor the inner "parts" of your soul - each carrying memories, emotions, and somatic expression - with curiosity and kindness. We create space for these parts to speak and be seen and understood. We invite Jesus into your memories, and the places that hold trauma and its results: emotions like pain, fear, and loneliness.

As you experience safety, love and healing in the presence of Jesus, trauma is released and transformed, and your true self receives the gifts it was designed to carry.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic tool for healing trauma. This modality is based on the concept that when experiences are overwhelming, they often go unprocessed and get “stuck” in our nervous systems, causing reactivity/ hypervigilance or numbing/ dissociation, negative thoughts and beliefs, and other behaviors that hinder our ability to live and connect with others fully in the present.

In EMDR, the client engages in bilateral stimulation as they process the thoughts, feelings, and body sensations that stem from a negative memory. Bilaterals can be side-to-side eye movements, tapping back and forth on the knees, or holding small devices that buzz back and forth from your left hand to your right hand. Clients process through the memory until they no longer feel high levels of distress.

EMDR is used both as a comprehensive therapeutic approach, or as an interwoven intervention used to process specific memories, feelings, or sensations that feel “stuck.”

Holistic Therapy Approaches are not “Talk Therapy”

It is important to understand that the therapy approaches I offer are not considered “talk therapy” and will be different from the traditional counseling experience. While we will certainly talk with each other throughout your sessions, and relational connection is integral to healing, the approaches I use go to the root of your concerns and these often aren’t in your cognitive awareness (meaning they can’t necessarily be discovered by talking). The roots of your issues may be from early childhood or be generational, or from an incident that doesn’t feel significant to you now, but was foundational to your current problem. You can receive healing faster by working with your present emotions and experience, and by using holistic methods that move more directly to where they started.

In general, the talking part of our sessions will be focused on creating relational connection and safety, how you are currently experiencing your concerns, and the relevant history around them. That’s all we need to move into healing!

What To Expect

A simple outline of what to expect in my therapy practice.

Setting Up Your First Session

1) Reach out to me at the “Contact” link above to schedule a 15-minute phone call.

2) I will email within 2-3 business days to schedule our call.

3) If we decide to meet for therapy, we will schedule a 90-minute in-person session.

4) Before we meet, I will send another email with a Consent, Client Information Form, and directions to my office.

- I will have the Consent ready to sign at your first appointment. - You can print the Client Information Form and fill it out ahead of time, or take a few minutes at the start of your first session to complete it.

Your First Session

At your first session, we will get to know each other and talk about your goals and desires for therapy.

We will also start healing work! With all of the approaches I use, you do not need to share your whole story, re-live any trauma, or even explain things to get healing. Your body, soul, and Jesus know how and where to find the roots of your current issues. You, as the client, are free to share as much – or as little – as you are comfortable sharing. With just the basics, we can move into healing right in our first session together.

Moving Forward

If you choose to continue working with me, subsequent sessions are 60 minutes, and can be scheduled at the end of your session or on my Calendly link at your convenience.

We will create a plan using the approach (or a combination) that aligns with your particular concerns and desires. Read through the “What I Do” section, and we’ll work together to find the right fit for you.

I do approach therapy through a spiritual lens, and invite the Holy Spirit to guide all of my sessions with clients. Most often I begin our healing work with prayer, and invite Jesus to partner with us in our session. I am sensitive to my clients in this area as many have had difficult church or spiritual experiences in their past - but healing is always enhanced when we invite God into our work together.

We Will Work Together!

I consider the therapy relationship collaborative. I put my whole self into our sessions, and ask you to engage fully as well. I always take into account the limitations intrinsic to mental health concerns, but will expect you to put effort into your healing both inside and outside of sessions to the best of your ability. Healing requires investment from both of us!

In addition, I will check in every few sessions to assess the progress you are making. If we are both investing in the work, I expect my clients to see changes. If we are not seeing results, we’ll talk about why that might be and adjust accordingly - and make sure this is the right healing space for you!
